powerful living

Get comfy and everyone takes it in turn to hold their thumbs out and wiggle them up or down to express how they are and how their week has been. Allow everyone to share why. Perhaps share what God has been doing in your life this week. Why not take a moment to pray about what comes up?

Zip Zap Boing. Everyone gets into a circle and puts their hands together pretending to point like a gun. Someone starts by pointing their gun to the person beside them and saying “ZIP”. To kip passing round the circle each person points to the person beside them with their ‘gun’ and says “ZIP”. At any point in the game someone can shoot at someone across the circle by point their ‘gun’ at them and saying “ZAP”. A player can also use the word “BOING” and open their hands like a forcefield bouncing the shot back at the person who ‘ZIPPED” or “ZAPPED” them. If someone is to slow or gets it wrong, then they lose a life [point: being zappedby God’s power]

Family Discussion questions:

  • Tell a story of when you ran out of something you needed e.g. petrol, food, money?

  • What do you love most about this morning’s story?

  • Have you ever felt like you’ve been filled with God’s power, why not ask or ask again?

Find a space with your cushion somewhere, bring your journal or paper and pen with you.

Play this worship music video and spend some time with God talking about the places in your life where you feel like you need help and ask God to fill you afresh with the Spirit to help you.

Choose a time as a family (do it now if you have time) light a candle to symbolise the flame of God’s presence or Spirit. Everyone put their hands on the person to their right and pray that God fills them again with His power, the Holy Spirit. Then take a few moments to wait and see what happens. Talk about the experience together. Do it again in the week.
